Kevin Anderson will return from retirement at the Infosys Hall of Fame Open in Newport against Canadian Gabriel Diallo.

The 2021 champion will play a 21-year-old in his first match since the 2022 Miami Open presented by Itau. Anderson played his first ATP Tour main draw match in 2007, when Diallo was five. The rising star, who has soared more than 500 places in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings over the past 12 months, will try to secure his maiden tour-level victory against the former World No. 5.

The winner could play sixth seed Max Purcell in the second round. The Australian will begin his tournament against Dutchman Gijs Brouwer.
