This Is His First ATP Tour Main Draw
The 2023 Internazionali BNL d’Italia is a tournament Marozsan will never forget. Entering the event, he had never competed in an ATP Tour main draw. Earlier in the year, he had lost in qualifying in four tour-level events. But he defeated Timofey Skatov and Felipe Meligeni Alves to earn his way into the field and then upset World No. 67 Corentin Moutet and World No. 39 Jiri Lehecka in the main draw.

The Hungarian then stunned the tennis world when he eliminated Alcaraz, who entered the match with a 30-2 record on the season.

Fabian’s Tennis Journey Began At 5
Marozsan recalls at age five watching his father playing tennis with a friend. The Hungarian told his father, “I’d like to try that sport”. He credits his father for teaching him everything about the sport, although his dad did not have a professional background in the sport.

The Hungarian grew to idolise Rafael Nadal. Fittingly, his favourite surface is clay and favourite shot is the drop shot. Marozsan did not play a Grand Slam junior event, but climbed to No. 53 in the world as a junior.

He Has Slowly Worked His Way Up
Marozsan has persevered to climb the Pepperstone ATP Rankings. After playing qualifying at an ATP Challenger Tour event in February 2017 and losing in straight sets, he competed solely on the ITF World Tennis Tour for nearly five years.

It took until the Hungarian’s ninth professional tennis tournament to earn his first Pepperstone ATP Rankings points. When he finally returned to the ATP Challenger Tour in November 2021, Marozsan qualified in Bergamo and advanced to the semi-finals of the main draw, surging into the world’s Top 400. Last year in Banja Luka the Hungarian claimed his first ATP Challenger Tour trophy in Banja Luka.

Some Of Fabian’s Favourites
“Fabi” has several off-court interests. The Hungarian is a basketball fan who enjoys cars. He likes watching The Fast and The Furious movies and listening to music, with his preferred genres pop and rap. Marozsan’s favourite TV show is Manifest and his favourite actor is Jason Statham.

Th 23-year-old’s guilty pleasures are chocolate and soda, and his favourite food is Goulash, a Hungarian soup.

Marozsan Is Following Fucsovics’ Lead
For years, Marton Fucsovics has led the way for Hungarian men’s tennis. The 31-year-old has climbed as high as World No. 31, inspiring the next generation of players from his country, including Marozsan.

“Marton is a really good player, he’s the best Hungarian, maybe of all time,” Marozsan said last year. “I can learn from him; he’s confident, he knows what he’s doing. Hungary is not a big tennis country, so sometimes we practise at the federation when he’s home. Everyone wants to beat him and be better than him. We look up to him.”
